These three simple daily mistakes may be adding secret calories and is what is stopping you from hitting your fitness goals.
Becoming fit is about building consistent habits. Hitting the gym, staying hydrated and most importantly fueling your body with the right low-calorie food that are high in nutritious value.
Getting and staying lean is all about staying in a calorie deficit. This means intaking less calories through food and drink consumption than you are burning in a day.
These daily habits may seem harmless, but could the difference in seeing results or not.
1. Reduce cooking oil use

Using too much cooking oil when making at home meals is one of the easiest ways to add (a lot) of calories to your meals without knowing. Extra virgin olive oil contains around 135 calories per tablespoon, which is just one spoonful.
If you are putting a surplus of oil in your pan, you can easily be putting 400-500 calories per meal without even knowing. If you do that 2-3, even four times a day you are significantly hurting your health goals.
Below is a video that visually explains what overusing olive oil in your cooking looks like. It explains in more detail how it can be detrimental to your daily calorie intake.
2. Stop drinking your calories

I love lattes and fizzy drinks, but having a little liquid treat everyday is significantly killing your goals.
Lattes and other coffee drinks are packed with sugar and calorie dense dairy products giving you an extra couple hundred calories in minutes. If you are going for a second one in the afternoon, you could be nearly half way through your calorie goals for the day.
There are many low calorie and sugar free options you can find to build your favorite coffee at your shop, it just takes a bit of research!
3. Use less sauce
I love adding sauce to just about any meal, but this can be a very easy and dangerous way to add a couple hundred calories to any meal.
It is okay to use sauces to add flavor, but it is important to be aware of how much you are using and how many calories that is adding to your plate. Putting in a little bit of extra effort to calculate could be very impactful in seeing results.
Eating clean can be very difficult, especially when there are so many things in our diet that we fail to consider. I hope you take these three tips and implement them into your daily habits.
