Sometimes, cooking and being a student doesn’t go very well together.
I also know that with social media, a lot of peoples share ideas of recipes online but as a student, I can also say that it’s hard to keep up with them with a lack of materials. And honestly, most of the time, I was just missing one piece, but still the most important : an oven.
That’s why I’m going to share with you today my 3 favorite recipes as a gourmet student without an oven.
I- Tomato pasta and extra shrimp
A classic !
All you need is :
- Pasta, anykind
- Tomatoes
- Shrimp
- Basil
- Parmesan cheese (it’s not an obligation)

The instruction :
- Boil water in a saucepan with a bit of salt
- Preheat a pan
- Once the water is boiling, put the pasta in it
- Add a little of olive oil in the pan
- Add the shrimp
- A little later, add the tomatoes
- When your pasta is almost ready, put some basil and the spices of your choice in the pan
- Add your pasta on the pan, mix it all and enjoy !
- And for the gourmet side, don’t forget the parmesan cheese …
II- GOAT CHEESE AND HONEY PUFF
You may never hear about them, but i can assure you some people can kill for them in France !
This one is also to prove that pastry doesn’t mean having to use an oven.

All you need is :
- Puff pastry
- Goat cheese
- Some honey

The instruction :
- Preheat a pan over low heat
- Cut pieces of goat cheese and place them on the puff pastry
- Cut round around the goat cheese in the puff pastry
- Add honey on every little round that you now have
- Close the pastry on top of the cheese
- Place your little pastry in your pan
- Once they are a little golden on the top, bonne appétit !
- You can eat them with a green lettuce besides… and add more honey !
III- CHICKEN PAPRIKA WITH HIS RICE
Last but not least, another classic easy and fast to do !

All you need is :
- Some rice
- Chicken breast
- Vegetables if you want to add some !
- Paprika, or other spices of your choice
- Sour cream

The instruction :
- Boil water in a saucepan with a bit of salt
- Preheat a pan
- Once the water is boiling, put the rice in it
- Add a little of olive oil in the pan
- Put the chicken in it and fried it on both sides first
- Then let it over low heat
- When your rice is almost ready, (you can add some vegetables), add the paprika and mix it with the sour cream directly in the pan
- Finally, add your rice is the pan, mix it all, and you’re good to go !
