Snapchat, a popular multimedia messaging app known for its disappearing photos and videos, has a large user base across various age groups. It’s no secret that Snapchat is favored by the younger demographic. Recent statistics showed that the majority of Snapchat users, approximately 38.5%, fall within the 18 to 24 age range. Teenagers also aged 13 to 17 make up a significant portion, accounting for 20% of Snapchat’s audience. With that being said, a lot of brands have taken advantage of this and have focused their advertisements to target the 18-24 age range more closely.

People over the age of 35 are notably less likely to use Snapchat, according to data from Statista. This trend highlights the importance of understanding a platform’s user base for the best marketing strategies. But snapchat’s appeal goes beyond just teenagers. With Gen Z finding their way to the platform, Snapchat has become a preferred social media network for the Gen Z demographic. In fact, projections suggest that by 2025, Snapchat could reach nearly 50 million Gen Z users. The dedication of Snapchat users is shown in their engagement habits,14% of U.S. teens report using Snapchat “almost constantly,” while another 29% use the app several times a day. This high level of engagement highlights the significance the platform has in the daily lives of its users.

For social media marketers targeting Gen Z, Snapchat is a platform that can’t be ignored. With 65% of adults under 30 in the United States using Snapchat, it represents a large portion of the young adult population. Especially with the uncertainty surrounding platforms like TikTok (the potential ban in the US), Snapchat remains a great option for reaching and engaging with this demographic.

Understanding the age demographics of Snapchat users provides insights for businesses and marketers seeking to grow the platform effectively. With its strong hold on younger audiences and growing influence among Gen Z, Snapchat continues to be a force to reckon with in the world of social media.
