What to do this summer on a budget?

1. Picnic in the Park: Grab a blanket, some snacks, and your favorite book or board game, and head to a nearby park for a picnic. A perfect summer activity to enjoy some sunshine, fresh air, and greenery while spending quality time with friends or family.

2. Hike a Scenic Trail: Explore the outdoors by going on a hike along a scenic trail. Doesn’t matter if you prefer a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike, there are plenty of trails for every skill level. It’s important to drink and bring plenty of water and sunscreen!

3. Stargazing: Spend a warm summer evening star gazing. Find a spot away from city lights, get your blanket, and watch the night sky. You can even download a stargazing app to help you find/identify constellations and planets. This is also an event that could go well with some snacks! A Night Picnic.

4. Attend Outdoor Concerts or Movie Screenings: Many communities host free outdoor concerts or movie screenings during the summer months. Check local event listings to see what potential events are in your area and enjoy some live music or a movie under the stars.

5. Visit a Farmers Market: This is a personal favorite! Take a stroll through a farmers market and enjoy the sights, smells, and flavors of fresh produce, baked goods, and much  more. There are even opportunities where you can sample delicious treats, meet local vendors, and maybe even pick up some goodies to take home.

6. Have a Beach Day: If you live near the coast or a lake, take advantage of the sun and fresh air  with a day at the beach. Pack a cooler with snacks and drinks, even bring beach games or a good book, and spend the day relaxing by the water. Always good to get some vitamin D and vitamin sea!

7. Explore Local Museums or Art Galleries: There are many museums and art galleries that offer free admission on certain days or evenings! Take advantage and look for these opportunities to explore new institutions in your area and discover something new.

8. Find and Volunteer for a Cause You Care About: Give back to your community by volunteering your time! Whether it’s helping out at a local food bank, cleaning up a park, or volunteering at an animal shelter, there are so many ways to make a positive impact and even have fun while doing it.
