We have met a woman, Jeanne, a French woman who has used a bit of her free time to be involved in a charity “Les petits frères des pauvres”, which means “the younger brothers of the poor.” The goal is simple : the volunteers visit elderly people who get a very low pension, and are mostly lonely with a family visit once a year.
Every age are present in this charity, but it is more common to see volunteers over 40, Jeanne admits.
Many people would like to be more involved but do never take real actions. Why is that ? Well, 43% respond that they do not donate because they do not have the financial resources. What about volunteering then ? 52% of the non-donors worldwide are actually volunteering locally but no as much as donors, who represent 67% to give and volunteer.
