Varsities day 3 – match reviews

Women’s Division A final took place, DCU made it a league and varsity double as they racked up a 76-60 point win over Ulster University. The men and female Ulster university teams were teams to look out for but unfortunately, they both came second.

DCU was pushed all the way by a hugely talented UU side but managed to drive on in the fourth to retain their Varsity crown. No one really knew what to expect as the score remained cross throughout.

A close and nervy opening quarter saw nothing between the teams, with DCU just edging it 21-18. it was a good first half with both teams working hard on the fast break. They were in scoring position as quickly as possible and ready to shoot.

Both teams were all rounded, but when it got to the third quarter and DCU lead the way with a 42-36 lead favour were for DCU to win.

Nia Moore scored 35 points in the previous match and was the stand out star for Ulster, she gained 23 points despite the fantastic defence from DCU’s Alex Masaquel. Alex scooped the MVP award after a huge 21-point display for the Dubliners.

Aoife Maguire and some big threes from Tiffany Corselli saw them home to glory.
