Do you ever watch a TV series and go like “Wow! I should try doing this”? Well, you are not alone. The TV series we watch every day tend to influence us even if it is subconsciously. Some TV series on the other hand, effect or even change us by leading the fashion or thoughts of the society. 

Here are 4 TV series that aired in the last 5 years that influenced their audience.

1- The Crown

First aired in 2016, The Crown depicts the life of the royal family of The United Kingdom. It is a fact that when historical figures are romanticized, the empathy towards them increases. In this case, The Crown allowed people to love The Royal Family

2- Euphoria

Euphoria is an HBO TV Series. The story includes hard topics such as mental health, abuse and all kind of difficulties that Gen Z go through in the 21st century. However, the thing that influenced people most from this TV Series is the makeup. Yes, you read that right. Even though this is a tough to watch TV drama, the most famous aspect of it was the glittery, colourful makeup of the girls in the series.

3- Bridgerton

Bridgerton is a Netflix Romance TV series that depicts 1800s. It is generally thought to be similar with Gossip Girl and likewise, it influenced the way people’s taste in fashion. Not only the people, but also brands that lead the fashion industry got inspired by the dresses of Bridgerton girls and adapted their spring collection of 2021 accordingly. 

4- The Queen’s Gambit

The Queen’s Gambit is also a Netflix TV series. The story revolves around a young girl who plays chess and she grows up to be the best chess player in the world. With the release of The Queen’s Gambit in 2020 and the lack of activities to do while being in a pandemic, the interest for chess increased rapidly. 

Next time you decide to binge on a TV series, think about in what ways this one will influence you and then compare it with how it influenced everybody else. This should be fun!
