We’re now safely emerged on the other side of a winter consumed by a pandemic into what hopes to be the long and fruitful summer that everyone needs. Winter in lockdown proved that when it came to trying to find any sort release, excitement or essentially, any fun, it really was slim pickings. With options severely limited, many took the safe option of indulging in an endless sea of motion pictures. For three young guys living in Dublin, it was no different.

In this podcast, three roommates sit down and look back over the films which helped them to get through a winter in lockdown.

Although it sounds like your usual run of the mill film review podcast, there are few things to notice. The other contributors to the podcast were given minimal notice that this discussion was taking place, and absolutely no indication at all as to what films were coming up. This means there’s no time to gather any thoughts, prepare any notes or think of a controversial stance you might want to throw into the mix. Rating each film out of 10 and gathering an average result will ultimately see a winner crowned at the end of the episode.

From all time classics such as The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption all the way to some quirky, modern releases such as Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit, the guys offer some interesting insights into the works of directors such as Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino among others.

There was praise for some of the finest actors and the truly inspiring performances they’ve delivered. However, when it came down to it, other established actors such as Hugh Grant, were not so lucky.

All in all this podcast offers a fun and light-hearted look into the entertainment that helped a group of young adults through a winter that not many will want to remember.
