The first anniversary of the “Yellow Jackets”: Understand the social movement in 2 minutes

Last weekend was the first anniversary of the French social movement called “Gilet Jaunes”. On the 17th of November 2018, the first demonstration happened. They protested for one year each Saturday and they were also obstructing roads and roundabouts. Their claims were so diverse but they can be summarized by an increase in spending power. In front of the sweep of the movement, the government get in big trouble and lost legitimacy. A lot of polemics arise due to acts of violence between the “Gilets Jaunes” and the way the government handled the protests. This video relates a year of social protest.
