Ahhh, The Procrastination! It’s almost a lifestyle, waiting until the last minute to get things done… That is probably the reason why you are here.
WELCOME, you big procrastinator! I know you will try to procrastinate whatever you’ve been doing by reading this article too, but well, the good news is (or bad?) I will be brief! The main thing here is a video, that I really hope you’re going to watch below – we all love a good ‘pit stop’ on YouTube when we have loads to do, right? This one is worth your time, I promise!
The Cambridge Dictionary says: Procrastination – to keep delaying something that must be done, often because it is unpleasant or boring.
Actually, we all know it pretty well, we have all been there. That crazy urge of “I need to clean this mess right now”, or “I will just have a quick look on my Instagram”, or “I might cook that lasagna that I’ve been craving for months” (and takes you 3h to make it). In fact, some people do more than others.
However, this kind of procrastination is not too bad. But have you ever thought about the procrastination you have been doing with your life? Your dreams? Those places you were dying to go? Or that dream job, which the salary is not the best, but would be just ideal for you?
There is no excuse for that anymore. TIME PASS QUICKLY and one day you will wake up asking what you have done of your life. Maybe you wouldn’t make as much money in your dream job, but who cares? It might be cliche, but stop doing what you hate and start doing what you love. Don’t sell yourself. Stop complaining about your office job, and quit. Stop complaining about your boyfriend, and break up. Do yourself a favour and watch this TEDx video below. Tim Urban explains everything you need to know about this dangerous type of procrastination. It is something that I thankfully realised a few years ago when I left the comfort of my home and decided to live abroad (one of my dreams since I was a little one). I quit my job, left my family, friends, everything really, to follow my dreams in another continent. Like many, I also procrastinated this for a while, making countless excuses to myself, as my job, career, college, boyfriend, family, friends, etc, etc etc… Suddenly, something changed inside me, I woke up one day and decided to make it happen (with the help of my family – which was a huge privilege, I know). Please, if you can, do it as well. Stop making excuses as we often do! Quit your job, follow your dreams, travel the world. There is so much out there! Now watch this video below (as the only “procrastination of the day”) and stop procrastinating your life before it is too late.
“Tim Urban knows that procrastination doesn’t make sense, but he’s never been able to shake his habit of waiting until the last minute to get things done. In this hilarious and insightful talk, Urban takes us on a journey through YouTube binges, Wikipedia rabbit holes and bouts of staring out the window — and encourages us to think harder about what we’re really procrastinating on, before we run out of time”.
What have you procrastinated on and how has that affected your life? I would love to hear from you!
