Philately is a hobby that has kept generations of kids engaged in collecting stamps. I remember has a kid I was ardently involved in stamp collection. Somewhere along the way my interest in collecting stamps waned partly due to the rapidly shrinking usage of postal stamps as conventional forms of letter writing going obsolete with the advent of technology. However, I managed to preserve my collection of stamps as I deem them precious.

It is a general belief that the hobby is on a decline and that most people who are into philately are either retired or close to retirement and the average age of collectors are approximately 60 plus years of age. Out of curiosity I developed a survey to gauge people’s collection habits and their views on whether or not they think that Stamp collection is really on the decline.

The majority of the people who participated in the survey is of the opinion that Philately as a hobby is on a stark decline and would positively fade away within the next decade.
