With the second season of Rare and Microsoft’s pirate-themed sail ’em up taking to the high seas in April 2021 and with the game still enjoying a huge monthly player base, a new community has been formed to welcome all apprentice pirates hoping to get their sea legs.
Coming up on its fifth birthday, the game has been lauded for its open-world exploration and collaborative gameplay. Players can command ships from nimble sloops all the way up to complex galleons, but the larger vessels require not only a numerous crew, but also proper regimentation in order to even set sail let alone succeed on complex sorties or escape a kraken attack.
You can join the community here on Discord where you’ll be able to find other scurvy noobs looking to find their bearings.
Microsoft themselves really pushed the boat out when launching season 2 down below, putting on an impressive drone lightshow in Sydney Harbour.

Amazingly, since Sea of Thieves launched in 2018, over 20 million pirates globally have begun to chart their own tales of high seas adventures.
In addition to providing a place for new players to form crews and use Discord’s voice chat to ensure they’re all in the same boat there are channels for art inspired by the game created by community members as well as for in-game screenshots, a favourite of the game’s Instagram account.
Don’t forget to join the community here via your browser or grab the Discord app.
At the very least, you’ll have someone to drink grog with as you sink once again towards Davy Jones’ Locker.
