Hollywood honoured the best films of the previous year at the 93rd Academy Awards, which took place at Union Station in Los Angeles, with some parts even taking place at the Dolby Theatre on 25 April 2021, after more than a year of pandemic lockdowns that disrupted movie production.

The event was held without masks, but it followed all of the same Covid-19 safety procedures as Hollywood film sets, such as vaccines, screening, distancing, and wearing masks while the cameras were turned off.

The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are awards given in the film industry for creative and technical achievement. They are widely recognized as the most coveted and well-known prizes in the film industry around the world. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences bestows this award each year (AMPAS).

The outstanding films of 2020 and early 2021 were honoured at the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony. There were several firsts in the history of the academy awards ceremony, with no film winning more than three awards, Chloé Zhao makes history as the first woman of color to win the best director and for the first time, the ceremony concluded with the best actress and director award rather than the best picture award.

There are several award categories, and receiving several awards demonstrates appreciation for all of the work that went into producing the film. Despite the fact that it is an award show honoring the achievements of the film industry, according to Nielsen ratings, this year’s Academy Awards telecast was the least-watched on record in the United States.
