Raya and the Last Dragon is a Disney animated movie produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. it is a film about a princess warrior on a quest. The film begins with Raya (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran) recounting the past of Kumandra, a once peaceful land where strong dragons co-existed with humans before the Druun, a plague-like enemy manifesting as endless purple-and-black blob monsters, began turning everyone to stone. The dragons struggled together to save life, but they, too, perished except for Sisu who gathered all of the dragons’ strength into an all-powerful diamond and conquered the Druun according to legend. Many of the humans were resurrected as a result of her actions, but the dragons remained frozen in ice, with the exception of Sisu who some believe is still alive and at the bottom of a river. Kumandra has split into five areas over the years Heart, Tail, Talon, Spine and Fang.

It was the dream of Raya’s Father to unite the 5 tribes back to become one Kumandra. Raya, the princess of Heart (the location of Sisu’s gem), and her father, Chief Benja (voiced by Daniel Dae Kim), invite the leaders of the other regions to a peace summit in Heart. When the Fang chief ( voiced by Sandra Oh) and her daughter (voiced by Gemma Chan) make a bid for Sisu’s gem, it becomes a full-fledged battle. The gem eventually shatters into five fragments, each of which is swiped by one of each tribe’s representatives, releasing the Druun which unfortunately turns Chief Benja into a stone. Six years later, Raya is on a quest to locate Sisu and reunite the gem fragments with her favorite sidekick Tuk Tuk (Alan Tudyk), a giant pill insect. They track down Sisu (Awkwafina), a sassy, soft, and upbeat character. They journey together to the remainder of Kumandra’s territories, forming alliances with locals in each to put an end to the Druun once and for all. Do they succeed? or do the greed of the people prevent them from uniting?

This movie stresses the importance of trusting people and combating bias. Raya is a remarkable role model who exemplifies bravery, collaboration, and perseverance. Raya was very brave to embark on the journey to find Sisu with the drunn unleashed. In her journey, she meets with different locals who join her and help her. That shows teamwork. Last but not the least , Raya persevered in her quest to unite Kumandra. It was her Father’s dream for the people to be one big Kumandra again and she continued in his footsteps.
