Oldest palace of the world destroyed by ISIS

Mari was the first city invaded by ISIS five years ago. Few kilometers away from Iraqi border, this 5000-year-old Mesopotamian ancient city has been plundered and destroyed with explosives on Saturday.

Two years after Palmyra’s destruction, Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) published a document sent by the city’s guard who alert that the oldest palace of the world has been trashed by ISIS soldiers.

Built in 2900 BC, it was the last example of this period’s edifice and listed as UNESCO World Heritage.
