Amid recent criticism of insensitive treatment in Irish Maternity hospitals, acting classes and other workshops are taking place across the country to improve communication between medical professionals and the patients in there care.
I spoke to an Obstetrician who works with Saolta University Healthcare Group. She recalls her own experience in delivering a baby with Down’s Syndrome, and the difficulty in providing adequate emotional care to a new mother during a sensitive time.
