Following on from The Circular’s last post we asked Noel Ryan, a Deacon at St. Johns Evangelist Church what he thought of the canonisation of Pope Saint John Paul II and John XXIII.
Would you be able to differentiate between a deacon and a priest?
Vatican II is what brought back the role of the Deacon. A Deacon has three main responsibilities within the church. These are to assist the priest with masses and ceremonies, to be in charge of Minister of the Gospel and to administer charity within the church.
Noel Ryan is a Deacon of St. Johns Evangelist Church. The same church as Father Richard. He is also a Ballinteer resident who is married with five children. He is among the first Deacons to be ordained.
