I was fortunate enough to secure a job straight out of University at a Canadian skincare brand as a Brand coordinator and eventually worked my way up to Social Media Marketing Manager.

This job was able to teach me so much about the industry and ignite my love for skincare, as well as social media and marketing, but it did not come without its downfalls.

I was at the job for a little over two years before the company unfortunately switched ownership, and I moved on to my next endeavour. The two years with Province Apothecary, though, prepared me for the roles I would later take, and I am so fortunate for my experience with the most amazing co-workers. I was able to focus on my photography skills and bring them into the workplace, while also getting the opportunity to work with other Canadian brands that I grew up loving.

My favourite aspect of the job was creating and leading giveaways and partnerships throughout my two years, which made me more confident in my work and my ability to lead and manage in the future. My favourite partnerships were with Grape Witches, Elate Beauty, and Kusshi.

Also, working with retailers and seeing the rollout of our products in stores across Canada was an amazing opportunity to take part in as well. During my time at Province Apothecary, I was able to help manage the rollout of our products in Whole Foods, Rexall, and The Detox Market.

The above video is a reel created by me and my co-worker at the time, Dina, as we spoke on one of our favourite events; the Facial workshop event with Province Apothecary and Grape Witches, hosted in Health Hut. This was one of the most successful events we had as it sold out immediately, having us host one of the following weekends as well to satisfy the demand. The event was a workshop and product walkthrough of Province Apothecary’s natural skincare products hosted inside Health Hut, which is a natural skincare supplier and facial house, alongside Grape Witches, which is a women-owned Canadian wine store carrying all natural wines.

I am so proud of the work I was able to accomplish in my two years at Province Apothecary and the lasting friendships I made, as well as the portfolio I was able to curate as well. This was probably the greatest first job I could have had out of university, and the skills I mastered there have carried me through each of my past jobs.
