For a taste of some authentic French food in Dublin, one could try the French café-restaurant, la Cocotte, located within the precincts of the Alliance Française Dublin at the junction of Nassau and Kildare streets, right in the vicinity of Trinity College Dublin.
In addition to the nice French food, the staff are friendly bunch, it being always a pleasure to run into Claire, Flore and Matthieu.
The main-course menu includes a variety of sandwiches, homemade soupes of the day, salades (the most famous one being la salade niçoise), typical French meals such as the boeuf bourguignon, a variety of quiches, and of course, le croque-monsieur.
The café-restaurant is quite full during lunch-breaks so one could have a nice and quiet meal outside of the official lunch break. For the sweet tooth, one should not forget the viennoiseries.
La Cocotte is open from Monday to Saturday, from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm from Mondays to Thursdays, 8:30 am to 5 pm on Fridays and from 8:30 am to 2 pm on Saturdays. Bon appétit!
