Interview with League of Ireland legend Ricky McEvoy

Former League of Ireland legend Ricky Mc Evoy looks back on his lengthy and eventful career in professional football. Moving from Ireland as a teenager to try to break into the big-time in England with then top-tier Luton Town – managing one brief senior appearance, Ricky’s story is an eye-opening on-the-ground account of what it’s like in the cut-throat world of professional footballer.

Ricky, now 51-years-old, looks back on the 80s and 90s and his spells with Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk F.C. and Bangor City in Northern Ireland with a retiring nostalgia, and a wiser perspective than the kid who had to clean windows for his place on the team.
