INTERVIEW WITH CHINEDU ONYEJELEM ON METRO EIREANN NEWSPAPER

Commenting on the origin and impact of Metro Eireann Newspaper in Ireland, he said: ”Metro Éireann is an Irish Multicultural Tabloid Newspaper. It was established in April 2000 by me (Chinedu Onyejelem) and my colleague Abel Ugba. We are Nigerian-born journalists that emigrated to Ireland”.

Commenting on the Circular, he states that ”the Newspaper is based in Dublin and it  focuses on issues affecting Ireland’s immigrants especially, Africa”.

Continuing, he emphasized that ”Metro Eireann promotes a robust economic and diplomatic relationship between Ireland and Africa especially, Nigeria in particular where Guinness has one of their largest market in the world”.

He added that ”Metro Eireann also, promotes the cultural values of Africa as a rich continent. African students use the medium to express their wonderful experiences in Ireland and also, as a means of relating the socio- cultural and political value of Africa and Ireland”.
