Mindfulness is not new. Mindfulness derives from the 2,500 year old teachings of Buddhist Psychology. It was a Dr. Jon Kabatt-Zinn in 1979 who introduced Mindfulness to the West with his Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) practises.

Mindfulness is more than meditation but a mind frame. It means being in the present moment and being aware of your surroundings. Anne Loughman is a mediation teacher at St. Colmcilles C.S in Knocklyon and The Circular caught up with her to find out what Mindfulness is exactly all about.
