A group known as United Against Racism (UAR) has called on all to shun hatred, racist and sexist abuse against Muslims, migrants, refugees, women and LGBT members in Ireland and accept diversity.
The promoters crowded in the late hours of yesterday 16th March 2019 at Dublin city center to support the call by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) and many progressive artists and Irish citizens for Ireland to withdraw from the Eurovision song contest due to be held in the Apartheid state of Israel.
The campaigner Mr. Tom Scheskim who spoke to the circular.org said the stand was taken to ensure that Ireland does not play any part in the art- washing of Israeli repression and that the call was likewise in response to other numerous civic right groups agitating for equal rights like the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions). “We are here to joining a broad coalition of anti-racists/anti-fascists to pledge our support for all victims of racism particularly the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions). As a group, we will not allow this to happen”.
In the vain, Mr. Sidney Ethan, who is from Australia, commended the organizers of the campaign while also indulging the people not to buy Newspapers and magazines bearing racism in the front of their pages. According to him, it is a way of liquidating the companies who are poised to awash deeply racist attitudes to other people. “When they sell you Newspapers and magazines deeply rooted with racism, don’t buy. When you see such actions on TV, don’t watch. By the time we discontinue purchases, they will no longer see money to print papers promoting racial abuses”.
Others who also spoke at the campaign faulted the government for failed economic policies which included but not limited to housing, health, and public transportation. The highlights of the event were songs ministrations, displays of candle lights, waves of proud flags and homemade placards purported to bare the dangerous opportunism racism.
