I could get used to this. AI is doing all the work. If you have ever tried to edit a video, you know it is not as quick as it looks. You have to watch everything back an embarrassing amount of times, pick the best parts, cut it down, and format it properly. It’s a lot.

For this project, I let AI handle that part. I took a video that I had already created last semester and uploaded it to OPUS Clip, which is an AI tool that basically turns long videos into short, social media-style clips.

The idea is simple: instead of doing all the editing, the AI watches your video, finds what it thinks are the most interesting moments, or engaging moments, and turns them into short videos that are ready for TikTok or Instagram. When I uploaded my video, it generated four clips. Each one focused on a slightly different moment, but they all had the same style I see online all the time.

Out of the four, I picked one that felt the most natural and actually captured the vibe of my original video. The other three clips generated by AI were fine, but this one felt more natural.

What I found very interesting about the whole process is how fast it was. Normally, editing even a short 2-minute video would take me a while, but this literally took only a few minutes. The AI did the cutting and formatting and even added my captions. So in terms of saving time, this is definitely it.

But I still had to regenerate and pick out a video that felt the most compatible with my message because AI does not necessarily understand context the way we do. So even though AI did most of the work, I still had to make the final decision. And I think that the main takeaway from this is that AI is really useful for speeding things up and making it easier for you as a content creator.

Overall, I would say that AI tools such as Opus Clips are helpful, especially for someone who creates content regularly. It saves time and makes editing a less agonising process.

But at the end of the day, you still need your own judgment to decide what actually works best for you.
