If you want to further your management career but can’t commit to an Executive MBA at the UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School, there are flexible alternatives.

In addition to MBA programmes, the Business School delivers MSc programmes, industry programmes, professional diplomas and a variety of shorter programmes covering the full range of management development education.

The Smurfit Graduate Business School is highly regarded and is ranked eighty-ninth in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2019 for the full-time MBA and sixty-eighth for the Executive MBA. The Executive Education Open Enrolment Programme which is ranked forty-eighth in the world.

A friend of mine, Colin Garvin has signed up to do the Diploma in Advanced Management Performance.

The programme incorporates the key skills of strategic thinking, market insight, financial acumen, balanced decision-making and personal impact. As well as providing exposure to a broad range of concepts and insights, the programme incorporates real-world examples through case studies, discussion, reading and reflection.

The Diploma in Advanced Management Practice is delivered over a series of 6 two-day workshops over a ten-month period. Workshops take place on selected Fridays and Saturdays. The structure is designed to facilitate busy working lives while allowing participants to apply skills as they are acquired.

The programme is aimed at managers and functional specialists with a minimum of 5 years of work experience who want to progress to more senior management levels or transition towards more general management roles.

The six modules of the programme cover strategic management, operations analysis and design, financial management, organisational effectiveness, marketing and personal performance.

The Diploma in Advanced Management Performance is part of a suite of diplomas that form part of the optional MSc in Business Pathway. If participants successfully complete any three out of ten diplomas over a 5-year period, they are awarded an MSc in Business (Leadership Management & Practice).
