Ever watched a soccer match or just run into someone in the street or watch someone who you know doing super cool soccer skills and you just wished , ” Only if I know how to do that”. Well, most probably those people are professional or have years of experience, practice, and knowledge of the game. Therefore it is going to be really difficult and time-consuming to try imitate them. However, if you just starting off with soccer or even if know nothing about the game there are some basic skills which literally anybody can try and master in a short period.

I went out to the field with Kavish Kumar Manimaharan, a professional soccer player from Malaysia who is currently playing for Osaka FC  Youth Team in Japan  to teach some of the easiest and simplest soccer tricks. So, here is the list:

1.Warm Up

Warm-ups are an important aspect of sports in general. They prepare your body and also stretches your muscles. In soccer, even warming up includes few cool skills like crossing the ball, zig-zag, dribbling and so on. The names of these warm-ups may sound hard but it is really  not. They are super easy to follow and you can do it at any pace, speed and for as long as you like.

2. Chest Control

Chest control is basically where a soccer player controls the ball using his/her chest when there is sufficient room for secure control or defense . It may hurt at the first attempt but later on, you will get used to it.

3. Shooting

Shooting basically is the most common way to score a goal. In professional soccer, shooting is an art where only a few have mastered. Footballers like Leo Messi, Robert Carlos, and Steven Gerard  even have their own trademark shooting style! However, shooting a ball is actually really easy. In fact, you don’t even need someone to teach you how to shoot a ball. All you need to do is run as fast as you can and kick the ball right into the net and it’s a GOAL!!

4. Header/ Head Control

The heading is a skill where the player jumps really high and use their head to control, defend or even score a goal.  Cristiano Ronaldo is most probably the best header where he can jump more than 8 ft at the speed of 45 mph (which is just insane! ). You don’t have to jump that high nor at that speed to head a ball. You can just jump at the height you can and use the force within you to head the ball straight into the net. Again, it may hurt but you will get used to it.

5. Juggling

Juggle is a skill, practice by players to have better balance on the ball. As said, balance is the most important element in juggling. If it is your first time juggling the ball, you may have difficulties controlling the ball but remember balance, balance, and balance. If you have a great balancing skill then juggling is a piece of cake for you. Even if you don’t have a great balancing skill keep trying and you will get it eventually. I tried it for the first time and was able to do four juggles so I bet you can too!

So, these are some of the easiest and simplest soccer skill that you can try and impress people. These are also the basic steps of soccer so with this knowledge you can understand the world’s most beautiful game even better plus since these are the basic steps of soccer so if you can master this then next step is GO PRO!

Before ending my article here’s a short video of soccer skills which is a bit more complicated which you can try once you have nailed the basic one. Enjoy.

Special Thanks: Kavishkumar Manimaharan
