Fascinating brain facts

The human brain is a complex part of the body system, but do you also know that there are some facts we dismissed about brain characteristics? Let’s take a brief look at them.

As kids, we all believe that we use only ten per cent of our brain. This concept has been proven to be false by scientists as new research states that we use 100% of our brains. So basically, all segments of the brain function for a different purpose. Have you ever wondered why we have geniuses and smart minds? This is attributed to gene and environmental factors, but research has shown that the brain intelligence quotient [IQ] can be developed. This is great news because you don’t have to be born a genius before becoming one.

Most times, we do a lot of thinking and calculating in different areas, and we believe the brain multitasks. This happens to be false because the brain can only CONTENT-SWITCH.  The brain shuffles thoughts rapidly but doesn’t concentrate on two things at the same time and attentiveness. The brain is a very functional organ throughout our entire life; even when we are asleep, it functions 24hours but does not reach full maturity until the age of 25.

The brain has several compositions, but did you know the brain is composed of 73% water?  It takes only two per cent of dehydration to affect your attention and cognitive skills. The more reason you should stay hydrated.

Sometimes we spot the differences in people’s behaviour which makes us wonder if our brain functions the same. The truth is our brain does have some similar functions, but they’re aspects that differ based on personality traits. The compartment of the brain size varies in an individual, but the percentage rate is the same. This states that the brain is approximately 3 pounds which is 2% of the total body weight, which leaves us to imagine the brain’s complexity and new behaviours. Do you also think the brain is evolving rapidly with newer discoveries?
