In a world where stories of incredible trips frequently captivate our interest, Pelumi Nubi, a 27year old Nigerian solo drive from London to Lagos is an amazing display of bravery, tenacity, and adventure. In order to realize a dream that many thought unattainable, this Nigerian woman broke stereotypes and defied the odds by setting out on a road adventure that would take her 4,377.2 miles across countries, cultures, and landscapes.
Pelumi Nubi’s journey began with a simple yet audacious idea – to drive solo from London, the bustling metropolis in the heart of the United Kingdom, to Lagos, the vibrant and populous city in Nigeria. What started as a personal challenge soon turned into an inspiring adventure that captured the attention of people around the world.
Pelumi Nubi was born and raised in Nigeria and had a lifelong passion of travel and discovery. She was driven to take this incredible road journey by a strong desire to explore new places, get back in touch with her roots, and push herself outside her comfort zone.
The trip wasn’t without its difficulties. Pelumi had to overcome several challenges during the journey, including logistical issues, language limitations, and negotiating uncharted territory and border crossings. But despite every setback, she grew stronger and more committed to achieving her goal.
When the police reached out to me to inquire whether I wished to press charges against the driver who had illegally parked his truck in the middle of the highway without any hazard signals, I found myself deliberating.

The sheer distance Pelumi had to travel was one of the most difficult parts of her journey. The route to Lagos was a long and difficult one, covering more than 4,000 miles and several nations, including France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Benin. Nevertheless, Pelumi welcomed the trip with open arms and approached every stage of the voyage with unyielding commitment.
Throughout her expedition, Pelumi experienced the beauty and diversity of the African continent in all its glory. From the bustling markets of Marrakech to the vast deserts of the Sahara, each destination offered a unique glimpse into the rich tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and traditions that define Africa.
Pelumi’s heart grew with a sense of joy and success as she eventually made it to Lagos. The trip that had before appeared like a far-off fantasy had materialized, demonstrating that anything is achievable with bravery, tenacity, and persistence. In addition to shattering stereotypes and defying expectations, her solo trip from London to Lagos encouraged many people to follow their ambitions without fear.
