THE CIRCULAR

The Will, Chris Oscar Slap.

Although he is known as the bad boy for life star, Will Smith has been one of the few kind people in Hollywood. However, how far can goodness go when provoked? The Will Smith Oscar slap garnered more media attention than the awards presented that evening.

The 2022 Oscars was not the first time Chris Rock made jokes about the smith family. In 2016 Rock hosted the Oscars and made a joke about Jada boycotting the Oscars after April reign started the #oscarssowhite movement for lack of diversity in the academy awards, Chris called Jada mad and joked that ‘’Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties, I wasn’t invited’’ he went on to say that he understood Jada’s anger and it was because Will Smith was not nominated.’’ I get it it’s not fair was good in Concussion and didn’t get nominated but it’s also not fair that he was paid 20 million dollars for wild wild west’’ Rock said.  It doesn’t stop there in 2018 When will Smith posted a birthday message for his Ex-wife, Shree the mother of his 1st born son, Chris left a comment saying ‘’Wow you must have a very understanding wife’’ to which Shree replied Don’t Hate.

Will was criticized for overreacting to a comment that was only a jest, while some claimed that Chris Rock went too far in his jokes about Jada’s illness and deserved to be slapped.
Will wrote a statement apologising via his social media but he was banned from the Oscars for 10 years.

Will apologized to Chris yet again in a video earlier this month and responded to inquiries from fans regarding the incident. In the video, he mentions that he privately contacted Chris Rock but that Chris declined because he wasn’t ready to chat.
