Another thrilling WWE Raw show, which was aired live from Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on March 9, began the journey towards WrestleMania 42. A night of championship action, powerhouse bouts, and unexpected betrayals that drastically altered ongoing plotlines were presented by the show. RAW once again demonstrated why it continues to be the focal point of WWE’s weekly programming, from intense gauntlet matches to high-stakes championship defenses.
Penta vs. El Grande Americano — Intercontinental Championship Match
Penta defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against El Grande Americano in a significant championship match that took place that evening. With an aggressive and athletic style that put Penta to the test from the first bell, Americano entered the fight with the intention of overthrowing the recently minted champion. To try to throw off the champion’s flow, the challenger relied on fast counters and aerial offense.
But Penta’s signature focus and technical accuracy kept him in charge. The champion ultimately connected with his devastating finishing sequence after avoiding multiple near-falls, securing the victory and demonstrating that his title win the week before was not an anomaly.
Winner: Penta (retains the Intercontinental Championship)

Oba Femi vs. Rusev — Powerhouses Collide
When Oba Femi and Rusev squared off, RAW also produced a duel of brute force.
The match was a collision of raw strength from the beginning. Femi countered the veteran’s blows with his bulk and explosive strength, while Rusev tried to overwhelm his opponent with crushing strikes and grappling offense.
The competition was brief but had a significant influence. Femi executed his deadly Fall From Grace technique to gain a decisive victory after capturing Rusev during a charging attack.
Winner: Oba Femi via pinfall.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship No.1 Contender Gauntlet Match
One of the night’s most exciting moments came in a high-stakes gauntlet match to determine the next challenger for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Six competitors entered the match:
Ivy Nile
Bayley
IYO SKY
Lyra Valkyria
Raquel Rodriguez
Asuka
Because of the gauntlet structure, contestants had to endure several matches in a row, making the fight more of a test of stamina than talent. A chaotic and exciting series of eliminations resulted from each competitor’s distinct style, which ranged from high-flying offensive to hard-hitting power moves.
Bayley outlasted the rest of the field after over forty minutes of hard play, pinning Asuka to win the match.
Winner: Bayley — new No.1 contender for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

Betrayal in The Judgment Day
Even though the fights were exciting, one of the night’s most startling events took place outside the ring.
When the group turned against Finn Bálor, tensions within The Judgment Day finally erupted. Bálor was ejected from the group after his own stablemates viciously attacked him after a disagreement over previous defeats.
The audience was taken aback by the treachery, which could signal a significant change in Bálor’s character going forward.

Final Thoughts
WWE Raw’s March 9 broadcast was a prime illustration of how the weekly program creates anticipation for WWE’s major events. The evening included both action and storytelling, with championship ramifications, emerging stars gaining momentum, and shocking betrayals changing friendships.
New competitors are appearing, alliances are disintegrating, and the stakes are rising every week as the race to WrestleMania progresses. If this program demonstrated anything, it’s that anything can happen in the WWE on Monday nights.
