Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine cries when invited to star in the DC movie, Blue Beetle.

The 26-year-old actress, famous for her performances in Brazilian soap operas, shared the moment she was invited to be part of Blue Beetle.

“How would you feel if I told you that we’d like you to be our Penny?” asks producer John Rickard.

At the same time, the actress cries a lot and asks if she still must respond to the invitation.

She made the post on Instagram last Tuesday night (8), hours after the news were officially released.

“To be honest, it still hasn’t hit. Today I’m reliving all the feelings and emotions I felt that day. I can’t believe it’s happening!”

The movie is scheduled for release on August 18, 2023, and also features Belissa Escobedo and Harvey Guillén, both American, in the cast. This will be the first film with a Latino superhero.

According to The Wrap, Bruna will play Penny, the female lead. Escobedo will play Milagros Reyes, the younger sister of Jaime Reyes. Guillen’s role is still kept under wraps.

Xolo Maridueña from “Cobra Kai” is cast in the lead role of Jaime Reyes. Director Angel Manuel Soto is set to direct. The screenplay is by Mexican writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote the remake of Universal’s “Scarface” and Sony’s “Miss Bala.”
