Seedlings Early Years Workshops: The Last Straw

Explore how you can draw and create shapes using with hundreds of paper straws as a drawing and construction materials used in projects like this engineered wood flooring.

You will create a sculpture made of straws that will build up over the two days to eventually fill The Ark’s gallery space with a giant artwork made of straws.You will make your own straw lines and shapes, along with objects that you can then climb under, step over and crawl through. You can also colour on the straws and make some smaller straw constructions that you can take home too!

VISUAL ARTS: SEE HOW WE VIEW THE WORLD – exploring animal and human vision

This exhibition provides opportunities for exploring children’s creative and imaginative potential in Visual Art with a particular emphasis on Visual Art and Science education (STEAM).

Four interactive prototype helmets are on display as part of this exhibition, which are a combination of students and children’s ideas coming together to solve a particular problem, in this case how to construct an optical device exploring the art of perception. 

Come and try on these helmets to see how a bee, a jumping spider and a fly sees the world!

Engineers Week returns with our ever popular 10 Stations Challenge!  Teams of 2/3 students from 3rd/4th classes, will travel through the library tackling our 10 engineering stations with only 3 minutes to complete each station.

Lambing Live reopening 

You can now come to Newgrange Farm to see our flock of sheep lambing and our herd of cows calving. Spring is the best time on any farm as it is the time for regrowth and baby animals! Please remember that this is a natural process and sheep will lamb in their own time – not on demand, however with a flock of 300 we would hope that you do get to see it all taking place. Please note that not all activities are available during lambing e.g. Go-Karts and Maze as the animals are occupying these areas!

Esteemed musician and early years educator Eamon Sweeney prepares a feast of musical and visual delights for little ones! This series of Focus On Workshops incorporates elements of the school curriculum. The emphasis will be on seeing and responding to art, with a focus on visual notebooks and sketchbooks, a core part of art practice. Artists use visual notebooks to remember things they have seen, heard or read, to tease out how they might make their work, to remind themselves of future or past projects, to play with ideas, textures and colours. National Tree Week takes place from the 31st March to 7th April. Here at Arboretum, we are kicking things off a day early with an expert Masterclass with members of our teams in Kilquade & Carlow who will offer you all the advice and guidance regarding planting and nurturing your trees. There will be in house demos and you will have the opportunity to take part in a Q&A with our team of experts at the end of the session. Mini Muckers Monster Run

Mini Muckers Monster Run returns to. Punchestown on Saturday April the 13th 2019. So mums, dads, coaches, pull out the old sports gear because you are going to get muddy! Get signed up as part of a team with your kids and come have a fantastic muddy day out!

All they ask is that you let your inner child out, have a laugh & go along in  Fancy Dress (if you want). It is a 2.5km obstacle mud run for kids aged 7yrs+ over varied terrain

Free Bat Walk and Talk on Bats, at Belvedere, in association with Bat Conversation Ireland. Come along and enjoy a wonderful night-time bat walk and illustrated bat talk at Belvedere House, Garden, and Park.

The Belvedere Bat Walks takes place in association with Bat Conservation Ireland.

The Bat Walk begins with an illustrated talk on Bats, dispelling all of the myths and detailing just how marvellous these tiny mammals really are. The talk is followed by a guided bat walk with the use of Bat Boxes around Belvedere parkland. These allow you to hear the bats hunt and communicate with each other.

Jog For A Dog 5k

Jog For a Dog 5k returns in 2019 on Easter Monday April 22nd, the 5th year of this popular event run in the beautiful surroundings of Casteltown House.

Raising funds for the wonderful charity My Canine Companion Autism Service Dogs, this event has raised over €75k in the last four years! Four interactive prototype helmets are on display as part of this exhibition, which are a combination of students and children’s ideas coming together to solve a particular problem, in this case how to construct an optical device exploring the art of perception.

Lambing Live reopening 

You can now come to Newgrange Farm to see our flock of sheep lambing and our herd of cows calving. Spring is the best time on any farm as it is the time for regrowth and baby animals! Mini Muckers Monster Run returns to. Punchestown on Saturday April the 13th 2019. So mums, dads, coaches, pull out the old sports gear because you are going to get muddy! Get signed up as part of a team with your kids and come have a fantastic muddy day out!

The same rule applies, Min age is 7, no maximum

All they ask is that you let your inner child out, have a laugh & go along in  Fancy Dress (if you want). It is a 2.5km obstacle mud run for kids aged 7yrs+ over varied terrain

Free Bat Walk and Talk on Bats, at Belvedere, in association with Bat Conversation Ireland. Come along and enjoy a wonderful night-time bat walk and illustrated bat talk at Belvedere House, Garden, and Park.

The Belvedere Bat Walks takes place in association with Bat Conservation Ireland.

The Bat Walk begins with an illustrated talk on Bats, dispelling all of the myths and detailing just how marvellous these tiny mammals really are. The talk is followed by a guided bat walk with the use of Bat Boxes around Belvedere parkland. These allow you to hear the bats hunt and communicate with each other.

Jog For a Dog 5k returns in 2019 on Easter Monday April 22nd, the 5th year of this popular event run in the beautiful surroundings of Casteltown House.

Raising funds for the wonderful charity My Canine Companion Autism Service Dogs, this event has raised over €75k in the last four years!
