Anitta is a 28-year-old Brazilian singer, born in Rio de Janeiro. She rose to national fame in Brazil in 2013 after releasing the single ‘Show das Poderosas‘. This week she gained the fifth spot in the World Top 10 on Spotify, the leading international music streaming site, with her single “Envolver.”
In Brazil, the Spanish-language hit has already reached the top of the ranking, as the most listened sing in the country. The single has already surpassed 61 million reproductions across the globe, gaining space among North American and European artists such as Lil Nas X, Justin Bieber, Elton John and Dua Lipa.
“Envolver” is already in the TOP 50 of all Latin American countries. Anitta becomes the Brazilian artist to reach the highest on the platform’s global chart. The sound also grows in the US iTunes TOP 200, another much-celebrated achievement for international pop music.
Engaging was heavily promoted on Anitta’s social media through dance challenges, which consist of imitating the choreography of the clip. The clip directed by Anitta and produced by Harold Jimenezes has more than 60 million views on YouTube.
The success of Envolver is related to ‘El paso de Anitta’, a dance that went viral on TikTok and is currently one of the most popular songs on the app.
The singer’s previous record was with the Portuguese song ‘Vai Malandra‘ in 18th place, but she is currently trying her international career and had recently released hits in English and Spanish, such as ‘Envolver’ and ‘Boys Don’t Cry‘.
