Amazon Prime Video released Gangs of Lagos, a Nigerian film that premiered globally on the streaming app last Friday, April 7, 2023. The film has been released to over 240 countries worldwide as one of many international projects to be released by the streaming app.
Gangs of Lagos is a tale of brotherhood and betrayal, of competing loyalties and revenge in a place where gangs backed by powerful political bosses rule the streets.
It is the story of three childhood friends struggling to escape Isale Eko- a neighbourhood rife with poverty and crime, only to find the pull of the criminal underworld drawing them back in.
There was so much rave about the movie on Twitter that it trended for 3 days in a row

The movie directed by Jade Osiberu and co-produced by Osiberu and Kemi Lala Akindoju is Prime Video’s first African original. It has been widely lauded by Nigerians at home and abroad as a spectacular Nollywood production.
The film is one of Prime Video’s growing libraries of international content. The streaming app has made it clear that it is fully invested in bringing international content to its wide-reaching platform.
Gangs of Lagos, which was released globally last Friday, is the first film to emerge out of the streamer’s three-year partnership with Osiberu — one among a number of recent deals with Nigerian producers from the U.S.-based tech company as it attempts to outflank Netflix in Africa’s largest market.
Last year, Prime Video introduced local currency services for the platform in Nigeria, signalling its commitment to a market of some 200 million-plus potential subscribers.
Gangs of Lagos stars A-List Actors such as Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Tobi Bakare and musician-turned-actor Chike Osebuka.
Here are some of the comments viewers shared about the movie on Twitter.

Apart from the movie, BROTHERHOOD, this movie tops the list of the best action movies to come out of Nollywood. The Cast and Crew really outdid themselves.
There's a lot to unwrap from this movie so stay with me.

Tobi realising that kazeem is not his family when his daughter stays in banana island is why Gangs Of Lagos needs to be translated in other languages and put on the street.

I’ll give it a 5/10 for storyline because until the end of the movie, I didn’t understand what story I was supposed to follow.
