Gaelic football, Rugby, Hurling are three sports you would usually associate with Irelan, however,r wrestling is one sport which is gaining ground.
The Irish Amateur Wrestling Association, Fight Factory Pro Wrestling, Irish Whip Wrestling are wrestling promotions based in Ireland.
However a select few have wrestled for the biggest promotion in the world; WWE and found so much success.
1. Becky Lynch
Real name Rebecca Quin, Lynch was born in Limerick on 30 January 1987. She began training as a wrestler as a teenager in Fergal Devitt (Finn Balor) and Paul Tracey’s wrestling school.
Joined WWE in 2015 and became a household name when she won the inaugural Smackdown women’s championship at Backlash on September 11, 2016.

2. Finn Balor
The ‘Demon King’ opened a wrestling school which Becky Lynch joined. His real name is Fergal Devitt. The 36-year-old was born Bray, County Wicklow.
At SummerSlam in 2016, the Demon King defeated Seth Rollins to become the inaugural Universal Champion and win his first world title. He was however forced to drop the title after suffering a legitimate injury.

3. Sheamus
He joined the WWE main roster in 2009 and has since become a four-time world champion. He is also a two-time United States Champion and a four-time Raw Tag Team Champion with his partner Cesaro.
Sheamus whose real name is Stephen Farrelly was born in Dublin and speaks fluent Irish.

4. Danno O’Mahony
Born Ballydehod, County Cork on September 9, 1912. He enjoyed success with WWE but never won a title with the promotion.

5. Velvet McIntyre
McIntyre was born in Ireland and is recognized as two-time women’s tag-team champion and a one women’s champion. She currently lines in Canada with her twin daughters.

6. Finley (Northern Ireland)
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Dave Finlay is a retired wrestler who is currently a producer for WWE. Finlay joined WWE as a trainer in 2001 and trained future WWE champions, John Cena and Randy Orton.
He is a one time United States champions.

7. Killian Dain (Northern Ireland)
Real name Damian Mackle was born on February 20, 1985 in Belfast. He joined WWE’s next programme in 2016 and in April 2018 was moved to the main roster following the superstar shakeup. He is a one-time NXT tag-team champion.
