BIMM (British & Irish Modern Music Institute), a contemporary music college located in the heart of The Liberties is quickly becoming the place for aspiring musicians, singers and songwriters to hone their craft; with the likes of James Bay, Ella Mai and Tom Odell having studied in its sister colleges which are scattered throughout the UK.
The Circular has compiled a list of 5 BIMM Dublin students and Alumni paving the way for the next generation of Irish talent:
1. ELKAE
Laura Keane aka ELKAE is an electronic soul artist who’s debut single ‘Sold’ has amassed over 17,000 streams on Spotify since its November 2018 release.
Nialler9 having described the track as: “absolutely fantastic” with a: “gorgeous influence of late 70s disco”.

2. Orchid Collective
Orchid Collective are a four-piece indie band who have had massive success in the short years they’ve been together.
They accumulated a cool 500,000 streams on Spotify in 2018 and their song ‘Otherside’ featured on Channel 4’s ‘Made in Chelsea’
The Last Mixed Tape describes the band’s most popular song ‘Otherside’ as: ”pushing the boundaries of their own songwriting to deliver something larger in scale.”
3. Tadgh
Tadgh is an RnB-pop artist who is quickly building momentum.
His most popular track ‘Okaylove’ gaining a cool, over 388,000 streams on Spotify; he is set to play his first headline show in The Grand Social in March.
HotPress described one of his tracks as: “Introducing a laid-back-attitude, the energising chorus freshens up the listeners ears with a more raised voice.”
4. Maria Kelly
Maria Kelly is an alternative-folk artist who’s latest EP ‘Notes to Self’ achieved high praise in its reviews with Golden Plec saying: “The EP is an excellent showcase of Kelly’s ability to lay bare her most intimate thoughts.”.
Her track ‘June’ from the EP has amassed an impressive, over 270,000 streams on Spotify.
Maria has also played numerous festivals such as Other Voices, Electric Picnic and Body & Soul as well as supported the likes of KT Tunstall and James Vincent McMorrow.
5. Munky
Munky are a four-piece alternative rock band infamous for their high quality and high energy live shows, with their sold-out headline show in Whelan’s gaining lots of praise in its reviews.

Having opened for Le Galaxie, played the Aviva Stadium as well as numerous festivals such as Longitude and Electric Picnic, the sky really is limit for this band.
