Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has come under fire from Reds fans after promising actor pal Russell Brand tickets for United’s crucial Champions League game with Real Madrid through Twitter.
West Ham fan Brand contacted Ferdinand through the social networking site looking for tickets to the Champions League showdown with the Spanish giants this Tuesday. In return, Katy Perry’s-ex promised Rio two Comic Relief tickets.
The centre half replied to the Hollywood star by asking him if he still needed tickets for the game, and where he was staying. Brand replied he was staying with a United fan in Manchester, and added he would make a contribution to a charity of Ferdinand’s choice.
The arrangement was met with anger by United fans who couldn’t get their hands on a ticket for the sold-out game.
