Tower Records are set to celebrate their 7th year of Record Store Day and the first in their new store on Dawson Street in Dublin. As you would expect from all independent stores at this stage, there will be special vinyl and CD releases all made exclusively available on Saturday 19 April.
Tower Records have said that it will be a “Massive Record Store Day Party on Dawson Street” (there will be RSD releases in their Eason’s, O’Connell St shop, too). Kicking off bright and early at 8:00am in both shops, there will be releases from Oasis, Pixies, John Grant, Damon Albarn, The Doors, Villagers, Gil Scott Heron, and LCD Soundsystem to name a few. A few goodies will also be handed out as part of their RSD celebrations.
There will also be live performances from Lisa Hannigan, Little Matador (Snow Patrol’s Nathan Connolly), Join Me In The Pines (Dave Geraghty, Bell X1) and SOAK.
New indie radio-station TXFM will also be broadcasting live, as Paul Donegan will be there with the Weekend Wake Up from 12 – 2pm, Johnny Cullen and Paul Lynskey with Parklife from 2 – 6pm, along with John Caddell and Claire Beck who will be covering the event throughout the day.
The Lighthouse Cinema will also be showing “Empire Records” at 10:30pm the same day.
