Travelling leaves you speechless then turns you into a storyteller said by Ibn Battuta a Medieval Moroccan Muslim traveler and scholar

According to the Business Insider, traveling is the best way to not just discover the world but also to rediscover yourself. It helps you to find back your soul which has been missing and it gives you experience and lessons that you will never forget.

To me, traveling is an addiction. I love getting out of my house and just exploring the world. Got to admit, I am really lucky to have the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world and seeing lots of new things.  Every country that I have been to taught me something which will be with me for the rest of my life. So,  So I am going to share some of the things that I have learned while I was traveling which I hope would inspire you to travel as well.

Firstly, it is okay to break out of your comfort zone. Scientifically, it has been proven doing what you have been afraid to do or try is the best help for yourself as it helps you to push your boundaries in the future and makes it easier for you to adapt to changes.

I have learned, that in life you have to be brave and face your fear. I am someone who is absolutely terrified of flying on an airplane. I still remember how I cried like a baby in my first airplane ride but now I have traveled to more than eight countries on my own and planning for more trips in the future.

Secondly, solo trips are the best! Being all alone in a totally new country can be terrifying but that what makes it interesting. Going on hours long airplane ride, staying in B&Bs, carrying a selfie stick everywhere, getting lost and then trying to find your way around the city has definitely made me a stronger person. It has also given me so much strength and confidence. Here’s a link to some of the best yet safest places for female solo travelers.

Apart from that, another big lesson that traveling has taught me is that the world is safe for a girl to be on her own. According to United Nations, there has been enormous growth in women safety and there are more women going out in the world. Heard of the saying, the world is not safe for a girl? Well, there is absolutely no true in that at least from my experience. I have been to places like India, Dubai, and Vietnam which is said to be among the countries which totally unsafe for women . Though, I will admit there were times where I was scared or have been stared at but that is not a barrier and there is nothing wrong with a girl breaking free and exploring the world. However, you got to be careful and be fully aware of the surrounding especially when you are in a different country but this applies to both men and women.

Adding on, another lesson traveling taught has me is to appreciate the little things. Travelling is not about how luxurious the trip is instead it is about how memorable the trip was. When you travel, try to engage with the country as much as possible. Talk to the locals, eat the local street food rather than going for posh restaurants, walk around in a random neighborhood and if you get lost ask the locals for direction instead of using Google Maps, take a ride on their public transport and when you are on the bus or train look around and observe instead of being on your phone and basically feel alive cause at the end of the trip these little things are the memories that are going to last forever in your mind.

Another thing that I have learned which I did not realize until I start exploring is that the world is big, like really big. You have no idea how big the world really is till you get in plane to go somewhere and you feel like you are on the plane forever or when you try to reach to family but you could not get them cause while it is still a day in one part of the world it is already night in the other corner. This could be overwhelming to some but that is the beauty of it. Travelling takes you to places and introduces you to new things which you never thought existed and all of sudden you are in love with it and it becomes part of your life.

Lastly, the biggest lesson traveling has taught me is to live the moment. When you travel you do so many things but what most people tend to forget  is to take a moment and just appreciate what is around them. Travelling is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity so instead of rushing things just take a moment , breathe in the air, close your eyes and relax because you will not get another moment like this.

Coming to the end, these are the things that traveling has taught me. Lastly, just want to say travel as far as you can because sometimes you got to go far to see what is near. The farther you go, the more things you see, the more people you meet make you realize how different we all are and you will slowly start to understand that these difference are what unites us all.

Lastly, here’s a short video I made out of some of the best memories  from traveling.
