The Lady Code

To all modern Ladies, here is a selection of rules that we should abide by and use as a source for guidelines. As the former Lady Code has proven itself severely outdated, it is time to freshen things up with a new, updated version. In order to become a Lady, you should be classy and sophisticated as always, if you are not you do not a Lady make. Enjoy!

  • Master at least one dish that you can whip up on relatively short notice, for when you’re having people over and don’t want to be like, “There’s a box of stale Wheat Thins left if you want to fight over those.” Click here for an easy example.
  • If one of your friends is a little too drunk to handle herself at the bar/club/house party, do the right thing and remain sober-ish enough to properly babysit and facilitate her trip home.
  • When another woman compliments your cute bag/shoes/dress and asks you where it’s from, it is your moral obligation to tell her where you got it — especially if it was on sale. Thou shalt not withhold the deals.
  • Have at least one outfit in the closet for job interview, one for first date, and one for going home to see family (yours or someone else’s). The amounts of headaches that can be spared by simply having a versatile blazer and pencil skirt at one’s disposal are incalculable.
  • Keep fresh-cut flowers in your house.
  • Always have a backup plan.
  • Give other women compliments when they are sincere and non-selfish, because girl-on-girl compliments are the greatest thing and the mark of a true lady.
  • Always accept a compliment.
  • A real lady holds her head high, but never her nose.
  • For the love of decency, never chew with your mouth open.
  • A subtle, yet noticeable lip bite possesses exceptional power. Use with caution.
  • Never let a man define you. Be amazing on your own.
  • Always classy. Never trashy. Just a little nasty.
  • Always have a comeback.
  • Maintain your mystery; men love a good hunt.
  • A sincere smile is a lady’s most beautiful feature.
  • Always arrive at a dinner party 15 minutes late. There’s nothing wrong with being fashionably late.
  • Look up the definition of sophistication. Embody it.
  • You were born an original. Don’t become a copy.
