Andy Murray celebrated his win over David Ferrer in his ninth Masters title in Miami on Sunday. The win over the Spaniard boosted the Scot back up the world ranking to world number 2 just behind Novak Djokovic.
Kells Man Claims Victory
Rory Mc Namara winner of The West of Ireland Champion 2013, is pictured after his win on Tuesday outside Rosses Point golf course. The amateur golfer also finished up as the leading qualifier after the stroke-play section of the championship before going on to take the title. Mc Namara is only the second player to be the leading qualifier and championship winner in the history of the event.
The Ban’s Keep Coming
Lance Armstrong’s comeback to the sports world was called to a halt by International Swimming Federation (ISF). Upon hearing of the Texan’s registration to compete in a Masters swimming event the ISF put a stop to him competing. The disgraced cyclist has furthermore been banned from any future U.S Masters swimming events as they are overseen by the ISF whom adhere to World Anti-Doping Agency rules.
Court Side At The Lakers
Shaquille O’ Neal celebrated the retirement of his jersey for the los Angelas Lakers, the NBA legend posed for pictures as he overshadows actor Jack Nicholson. The Oscar winning actor has been a season ticket holder with the Lakers since 1970.
Disappointment For Fans At Dalymount Park
Derry City traveled to Dublin’s Northside to take on Bohemians on their home turf in the Airticity League last night and claimed three points from the home side in a 4-0 victory. Derry now rest just two points behind league leaders Sligo Rovers, Bohemians are currently in the bottom half of the league in ninth position.
The Masked Man
Fernado Torres was the butt of many jokes this week, as he sported this rather unique protective mask during Chelsea’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Rubin Kazan at Stamford Bridge. Even team mates Yossi Benayoun and Ryan Bertrand were spotted smirking at him before the match, Torres had plenty to smile about during the match after scoring twice in Chelseas’s 3-1 victory.
Face Off Against Fran The Man
Ireland’s UFC fighter Conor Mc Gregor was pictured having a face off with Love/Hate star Fran The Man Peter Coonan. Mc Gregor took on American fighter Marcus Brimage this evening and was announced the winner after just 67 seconds in a first round knockout.
Fergie’s Day Out At The Races
Sir Alex Ferguson was spotted earlier today at the Grand National, the part owner of What A Friend and Harry The Viking was no doubt there to cheer on his investments.
