Song of the Moment: “Aviation High” by Semi Precious Weapons

Semi Precious Weapons are about to have an amazing 2013. Minutes ago, their new single “Aviation High” made its debut on popular audio site SoundCloud. It’s been a long wait for fans of the band, almost 2 years. There are many who already know who Semi Precious Weapons are, and many more who have yet to experience their music.

For those who are new to Semi Precious Weapons, here’s some quick background. They were established in 2006 and based out of New York City. They’ve released two albums, “We Love You” and “You Love You”, with a new album due to be released in the near future. They’ve opened for Lady Gaga (during her highly successful Monster Ball tour in 2009, 2010 and 2011) and Ke$ha (in 2011). They consist of Justin Tranter (lead vocals), Stevy Pyne (lead guitarist), Dan Crean (drummer) and Cole Whittle (bassist, backup vocals). They know how to party…hard…and hold some of the hottest parties Los Angeles has ever seen. Take a look at just how crazy their shows are:

This new song, Aviation High, marks a significant transition for the band. This sound begins an evolution for the band from the glam rock party style their fans (and detractors) have become accustomed to, to a sound that allows itself to showcase their talents. The most important point to remember about Semi Precious Weapons, is that they are all highly talented musicians, vocalists and songwriters and alumni of the Berklee College of Music. This song shows their growth and will no doubt create new fans, while making the fans who have been there before excited for what’s to come next.

Take a listen to the song below, and let me know what you think. I’ve been a fan of Justin, Stevy, Dan and Cole for years and even run a fansite for them. They’re some of the most genuinely talented people I have ever met, and they deserve to have this song become a hit. If you’re a fan of the music, make sure to follow them on Twitter and spread the word.

UPDATE: Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert have since tweeted a link to the song.

    • I think they will. I remember they always had a great Irish following back when they were touring with Gaga. A lot of fans made the effort for them back then so hopefully they will this time around!
