Scores of students travel overseas every year for Higher Education. One big challenge the students face  abroad is finding suitable accommodation. This is a short survey of the International students experiences finding a suitable accommodation in Dublin. Majority of the students agreed that it is difficult finding accommodation in Dublin .

Majority of the students agreed that the most effective tool they used for house hunting are home rental websites. Facebook came second in the list of preferences because they got live updates on availability. The students  also felt that Facebook was easier means to access because they were able to book appointments and receive instantaneous feedback’s.

Approximately 33% of students had been to more than 10 house viewing before they zeroed in on a place and 38% of students said that they have been through about 5 options before finding a suitable accommodation.  Additionally about 88% of students feel that a shared accommodation is the most economical option in Dublin.

The key factors that influenced students in selecting an accommodation are proximity to their college and affordability.  Approximately 33% of the students live within 3-5 km from their respective college or university.

Finally according to the survey a staggering 88% of respondents agreed that it was challenging for international students to find accommodation in Dublin.
