These two exciting skincare launches are taking place in Dublin this week.

Super affordable and incredibly hyped ‘Alex Steinherr for Primark/Pennys’ as well as luxury favourite from America ‘Drunk Elephant’.

These two brands both boast cruelty-free ingredients and production, high-quality products and broad product ranges, while being at drastically different price ranges.

Drunk Elephant

One of Americas hottest skincare brands is finally available in Ireland! Founded by Tiffany Masterson, Drunk Elephant markets itself as ‘Clean Skincare‘, dedicated to eliminating the ‘Suspicious Six‘ ingredients, often found in skincare. We should avoid:

  • silicones
  • fragrance and dyes
  • essential oils
  • drying alcohols
  • chemical screens
  • SLS (Sodium lauryl sulfate)

We had a chat with skincare consultant Tara Melly at Space NK Grafton Street about why this is the brand we all should be buying.

What sets Drunk Elephant apart is its use of Marula Oil in the majority of products. Tara discussed what the benefit of using an oil in your routine can be, ” It’s going to be a lot more hydrating that way, especially when its a natural oil, as that’s going to be accepted into your skin so much better along with your moisturisers and serums”.

Drunk Elephants price point is on the higher side, ranging from  €18- €90, Tara explained how Marula oil is considered a ‘Luxury Ingredient’ noting its luxurious feel on the skin, ” I think the whole luxury aspect of it is that it really works!”.

We asked Tara which is her must-have product in your routine, while saying the Marula oil is perfect for its versatility ” you can add it to everything, a cream that you like but are needing a bit more moisture, you can create a little skincare smoothie!” her personal favourite is the Protini Moisturiser which is “Really good to strengthen the skin as well as anti-aging benefits, so fine lines, it will plump them right out.”

The entire Drunk Elephant collection is available to purchase in Space NK on Grafton street now.
