Summer is only a couple of months away, and even though we should work towards a healthy lifestyle all year round, many of us will now kick training and healthy eating up a notch. If that is the case with you (as with me), these helpful applications on your phone can be handy.
The iDrated app allows you to oversee your water intake. It is a hydration monitor that logs the amount of water you drink, and gives you a drink alarm whenever it feels you should drink more. Locassa, the makers of the app, says that “simply increasing your daily intake of water helps to keep your skin looking vibrant and younger, aids your natural digestion, improves your overall concentration and helps your body to remove toxins”. Jacklyn, who has left a review after downloading iDrated, loves it too. She says; “I think this app is great”. So do I. And its free (in iTunes here, in Google Play hopefully soon).
Jillian Michaels Slim-Down Solution:
The tough (and slightly scary) personal trainer, best known from The Biggest Loser, has her own health and exercise app, Jillian Michaels Slim-Down Solution. Unlike what the name implies, this is not just an app for people who want to slim down. The app gives daily tips and advice about exercises, as well as recipes, and comes with a fitness planner, a meal planner, a calorie counter, a barcode scanner and a message board, where Jillian’s community can share motivational tips. Jerbjr, who gives the app four out of five stars, says it has «great exercises». And its free (in iTunes here, in Google Play here)!
Sleep is very important, and with the iHome+Sleep app you will wake up gently to a summary of your sleeping statistics and a weather report. It includes a ‘nap alarm’, ‘gentle wake’, ‘wake and sleep to Zen Sounds’ (requires .99e iHome Zen app) as well as sleep statistics and a sleep log. This app is award winning and free (in iTunes here). Android users should look up iHome Sleep (in Google Play here).
Take a Break! Guided meditations for stress relief
This app wants to melt your stress away, and with all the water-drinking, exercising and sleeping we’re doing, that is very welcomed. Take a Break! features two popular meditations from the Meditation Oasis, an option to listen with or without music or nature sounds, and a voice-guided step by step tutorial. Z the Star rates the application like this: «This app is great, soft voice and the background voice in this app is absolutely 5 stars». It is free (iTunes here, Google Play here).
Get Fit. Escape Zombies. Become a Hero. Zombies, Run! features 30+ missions and «Zombie Chase» interval training, and the goal is that you, (as the character Runner 5), collect supplies while trying not to be caught by zombies running after you. This app is not free ($3.99 in iTunes here, €3.49 in Google Play here, $1.99 for Windows phone here), but is so much fun that it might be worth buying. Freakishly Motivated says «This app is ingenious. For the first time, I’m seriously eager to get my kit on and jog-even in the pouring rain».
