Dublin Comic Con comes to Town

The 3rd Dublin Comic Con event is happening on the 8th and 9th of August in the National Conference center. The event will happen over two and a half floors of the center with over 100 exhibitors. The organisers make the sets themselves that form the backdrop of the event and there will be actors, artists, famous comic voice-over actors all participating.  It is an event for everyone, families as well as hardcore comic fans.

In its first year the event attracted 6,000 visitors. In its 2nd year it was held in Swords and attracted 9,000 people. This year organisers are expecting to nearly double that with an estimated 16,000 people attending. Dublin comic con are interested in supporting local artists and many will be exhibiting at the event and they fundraise for a number of charities throughout the two day event. Dublin City Comics is sponsoring a Mad Max Style camp for kids and all proceeds raised from this will go to Childline. A charity auction will also be held during the 2 days.

The event attracts every kind of person; people of all ages, movie fans, comic fans, families and it’s a great, fun event. People often go along thinking –“I’m not going to fit in” and come away feeling completely at home as part of a great fun event. Comic Con was on recently in America and it attracts numbers of 200,000+.

 

This year’s Dublin Comic Con has attracted some big names in the business! Billy West is an actor, known for Futurama (1999), Futurama: Bender’s Big Score (2007) and Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008). Michael Rooker, actor, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead, Mallrats. Erik Larson, Known for his work on Savage Dragon, one of the founders of Image Comics, and work on Spider-Man for Marvel.
