With her performance ‘PlopEgg#1’, Swiss artist Milo Moiré was undoubtedly the attention-grabbing act at the 48th edition of the international German art fair ‘Art Cologne’. Standing on a scaffold completely naked, the 32-year-old let eggs filled with paint drop out of her vagina onto a canvas. From the burst eggs, a supremely unusual painting emerged. Imitating the act of giving birth for her conceptual art, Mrs Moiré said she wanted to use the original source of womanhood. She added that it should display an ‘abstracted act of creation’.

The unofficial guerrilla act brought her plenty of publicity. Not all of it was positive since many criticised the performance as unsavoury. But Mrs Moiré should not mind – at the end of the day she benefited from the high attention.
