After my trip to Castle Island in Boyle County Roscommon I decided to research some other castles. Here are 5 restored castles worth a visit this Summer.

1. Blarney Castle

Home of the famous Blarney Stone that you MUST kiss. A beautiful castle, it is definitely a must-see if you are in Cork. Things to see and do in Cork.

2. Malahide Castle

This castle has been beautifully restored. Situated in Dublin, it is close to the coast and would make an excellent day trip when the weather improves. Things to see and do in Dublin.

3. Bunratty Castle

Situated in County Clare, this castle offers a unique experience of life in aristocratic medieval Ireland. Things to see and do in Clare.

4. Kilkenny Castle

I was here myself once. This castle is beautiful and the town of Kilkenny is great. The castle is the vocal point of the medieval town. Things to see and do in Kilkenny.

5. Lismore Castle

Spoiler alert, very expensive to rent apparently, so maybe we’ll just visit for an hour or two. This castle has amazing views and surroundings and is on the banks of the River Blackwater in County Waterford. Just in case it’s too expensive to stay, here are other things to see and do in Waterford.
